 | Welcome to ScarewoodWhere deathliness is next to Godliness! Where guests check in but they don't check out. | |
While our postal address is technically Renton, we're in unincorporated King County about 10 miles from Renton city limits. I love the post office up here. The Renton Main Post Office? It's not the one in downtown Renton, and the best part is the Renton Main p.o. isn't even within the city limits. It's about halfway between us and downtown in an area called Cascade Highlands. But there is a point to my rambling - the area we live in is known as Fairwood and we're supposed to vote pretty soon to incorporate as our own city. In 2000, I revamped our outdoor decorations and turned our front yard into a
cemetery. Since then I refer to the house as Crestfallen Manor and the yard as Scarewood Acres or Weedhaven Cemetery - I flip back and forth. I should just call the house Scarewood as well, I suppose...
Photos will be added here soon. You've already seen some of them if you gotten to this page. Links to how-to's for the fencing, gravestones and other
information will be added shortly. The party invitations read something like this (my final edit doesn't appear until after the party):
For
a week each October, just before Halloween
Scarewood Manor appears on the scene
With goblins and ghosts and pumpkins so bring
It gets even bettter on a dark stormy night
Spooks
rise from the ground and make headstones lean
And some say they've seen a monstrous Frankenstein
And with other surprises to give you a fright -
It's really quite a spook-tacular sight!
You're invited to join us for snacks and some fun
Daylight Savings Time's over so there's no need to run
A good time will be had, so come one and come all
To the wildest bash - winter, spring, summer or fall!
With the first glimpse of the building, the sense of insufferable gloom pervaded my spirit
