Due to the popularity of The BOO Game, I was asked to come up with a similar idea for Christmas - so here it is - The GRINCH Game. Just like BOO, it's something that's fun to do before Christmas. It's similar to Secret Santa. I did a version to use for neighbors and another for co-workers in an office. It's simple, and it's fun, and the fun grows when you see everyone else getting in the spirit, too. It's an easy way to brighten someone's day. I've already hit my neighborhood - it's your turn now!
How does it work? You get a few treats - it's up to you if you use candy or a small inexpensive gift of some sort - a holiday candle, a Christmas Pez dispenser, candy cane pens are a few ideas. You can wrap the item - I used lunch bags that I stamped with some holiday rubber stamps. I print out the letter with the Grinch on the reverse and staple it to the top of the bag. The letter tells the recipients what to do so they can continue the game. You then sneak up to the friend or neighbor's house after dark, or their desk when nobody's around to see you and leave their treat. If it's someone's house, ring the doorbell and run for cover! I've also left the goodies on the hood of their car or somewhere else they're sure to find it when they're leaving the house. Part of the fun is that they don't know who left them the treat. To make it more of a mystery, you might start the game by BOO'ing four or five people instead of the normal three, and/or put up the Grinch sign up in your window the same day as everyone else so they think the "Spirit of Holiday Cheer" hit you at the same time they got hit. After a few days, if I see someone or a house or two that hasn't been hit, I usually hit them just so nobody's left out. That's just the sort of person I am - I enjoy giving.
Clicking on any of the thumbnails below will bring up the full-sized version of each version of the letter, ready for you to print out and copy. Or right-click and select "Save Target As" to save the complete version to your computer. NOTE - Each letter has it's own specialized version of the Grinch as a second page. The Grinch is displayed here for illustrative purposes. The office version of the letter has a Grinch page that you fold in half and set on your desk instead of the full-page version to hang on your door or in your window.
